Every Block Has a Story ("we," "us," "the site") is a place for people to share short stories about their neighborhoods and blocks. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
When you create an account, we collect the name and email address you provide. Your password is handled by our authentication provider (Supabase) and is never stored by us in plain text.
When you build out your profile, we store what you choose to add: a bio, a profile photo, and a banner image.
When you post a story, we store the video file, title, caption, location, and the IP address the submission came from. The IP address is used only for moderation and abuse prevention — it is not shown publicly.
To unlock story posting, we verify that you own an Every Block Has a Story product by checking your order against our Shopify store's order records (order number and, in some cases, email or ZIP code).
Videos and profile photos/banners you upload are automatically reviewed by an AI system (powered by Anthropic's Claude) to check for content that's inappropriate, off-topic, or violates our content guidelines, before they're shown publicly. This review looks only at the content itself (the image or video frame, and any title/caption/location you provided) — it isn't used to build a profile about you or shared for any other purpose.
We don't sell your personal information. We do use a small number of service providers to run the site, and your information passes through them as part of normal operation:
We use your browser's local storage (not third-party tracking cookies) to keep you signed in between visits, and to remember things like which stories you've already viewed so we don't count duplicate views. This data stays on your device and is tied to your session, not sold or shared with advertisers.
We keep your account and posted content for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account or specific content deleted, contact us via the Contact page and we'll process your request.
Every Block Has a Story is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
You can edit or remove your bio, profile photo, and banner at any time from your profile page, and delete individual stories from your account page. For anything else — including a full account deletion or a copy of the data we hold about you — reach out through the Contact page.
We may update this policy as the site changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
